All of KCC's furniture pieces are finished using either a museum grade wax (made from beeswax and carnauba wax) or 100% Canadian made hemp oil. These finishes take 30 days to cure, and once they do, the surface will be durable and stand up to normal use. It is highly recommended to limit the use of your new purchase for the first 3 weeks to ensure the finish hardens properly. It is a good idea to always use coasters and placemats to protect the finish from moisture and heat.. The surface is durable, however, it is porous (unlike plastics or glass) and should be protected accordingly.
To clean: we recommend dry dusting or when necessary, wiping with a damp clean cloth followed by a dry one. Never use chemical polishes or cleaners.
If over time, you feel the finish could use a little love, lightly sand your piece with 220 or finer grit sandpaper, and apply a coat of furniture specific beeswax or hemp oil (dependant on the original finish). If you would prefer a professional touch-up, we would be happy to do this for a nominal fee.
Please call 604-679-9193 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or would like more information.
Vases can be used normally, however, it is recommended to limit the amount of water that comes in to contact with the exterior. Water in direct contact with the glue, can loosen the hemp and beads.
Plant pots can be cleaned with water and a soft rag. Never use a brush or chemicals as this can scratch or remove the paint from the surface of the terra cotta base..
